Maia Campbell
Maia Chinassa Campbell, the daughter of the late celebrated author Bebe Moore Campbell, was born in Takoma Park, Maryland. Her father is Tiko Campbell an architect and author from Washington, DC. She moved to Los Angeles, California with her family at the age of seven. Growing up, she spent many summers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania studying voice and starring in productions at the Freedom Theatre. She also studied theatre at the Marla Gibbs’ Crossroads Theatre in Los Angeles, and at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia for one year before working on the sitcom In the House.
